Getting Started
Remio is a remote desktop app that lets you access your computer from any device — iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Android. It streams your entire desktop in real-time with ultra-low latency, so it feels like you're sitting right in front of it. Think of it as a window into your computer, wherever you are. Unlike older tools like TeamViewer or AnyDesk, Remio is built from scratch with modern tech — 100% native apps, hardware-accelerated encoding, and end-to-end encryption by default.
It takes about 2 minutes:

1. Install the Remio Host app on the computer you want to access (macOS).
2. Install the Remio Client on the device you want to view from (iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Android).
3. Both devices show a pairing code — enter it and you're connected.

No account required. No complicated network setup. No port forwarding. It just works.
No. Remio works without any account or sign-up. Just install, pair with a code, and connect. We believe privacy starts with not requiring your personal information in the first place. If you upgrade to Pro, you'll create an account then — but the free tier never needs one.
Client (view from): iOS (iPhone & iPad), macOS, and Android.
Host (access remotely): macOS today. Windows support is coming soon.

All apps are 100% native — SwiftUI for Apple platforms, Jetpack Compose for Android — so they feel fast and right at home on every device. No Electron. No web wrappers.
Yes! Remio Free gives you 1080p streaming at 60FPS with full encryption for one device pair — forever. No trial, no time limit, no "commercial use" nag screens. It's genuinely free.

If you want 4K, multiple devices, or advanced AI features, Remio Pro is $8.99/month.
Performance
On a local network, Remio typically achieves under 16ms latency — that's less than one frame at 60FPS. You literally cannot perceive the delay. Over the internet, latency depends on your distance and connection, but most users see 20–40ms on a good connection. Remio's P2P architecture and hardware-accelerated encoding keep it as low as physically possible.
Absolutely. Remio supports up to 4K at 60FPS with hardware-accelerated encoding, gamepad/controller input, and low-latency audio. It's built for fast-paced content — games, video editing, 3D work. Play your Steam library on your iPad from the couch? That's exactly what Remio is for.
Free: Up to 1080p at 60FPS.
Pro: Up to 4K (3840×2160) at 60FPS.

The stream automatically adapts to your network conditions in real-time to maintain the smoothest possible experience. You can also manually adjust quality settings if you prefer.
Both. On your local network, Remio connects directly for the lowest possible latency. Over the internet, it uses P2P hole-punching to establish a direct connection when possible, or falls back to a relay server if needed (Pro users get priority relay servers). Either way, the connection is always end-to-end encrypted.
It depends on your resolution and content:

1080p/60FPS: 5–15 Mbps
4K/60FPS: 15–40 Mbps

For context, Netflix 4K uses about 25 Mbps. Remio's adaptive quality engine adjusts in real-time, so it works well even on variable connections. Static content (like a text editor) uses much less than fast-moving content (like a game).
Security & Privacy
Yes. All connections are end-to-end encrypted using modern cryptography. Your stream goes directly between your devices (P2P) — it never passes through our servers. We can't see your screen even if we wanted to. Remio was built from day one with a zero-trust, privacy-first architecture. Read more on our Security page.
Yes, always. Every connection uses end-to-end encryption — your video, audio, input, and all control data are encrypted before leaving your device. This applies to both local and internet connections, and to both Free and Pro users. The encryption keys are generated locally on your devices and never shared with us.
No. Remio doesn't collect screen content, keystrokes, files, or personal data. We don't even require an account. The only data we process is the initial connection handshake (to help your devices find each other), and that's it. Once connected, everything is direct P2P. Check our Privacy Policy for full details.
No. Your screen content is encrypted end-to-end and streamed directly between your devices. Our servers only help with the initial connection setup — they never see your actual screen data. This is fundamentally different from tools like TeamViewer where the company's servers can potentially access your stream.
Both AnyDesk and TeamViewer have suffered major security breaches. AnyDesk was breached in early 2024 with attackers accessing their production systems. TeamViewer was compromised by state-sponsored hackers in 2024 as well. These breaches were possible because those tools route data through centralized servers.

Remio takes a different approach: P2P-first connections, no centralized data routing, no stored credentials on our servers, and a modern codebase built from scratch — not decades-old legacy code. Read our full Security Whitepaper for the technical details.
Features
Yes. Remio streams your computer's system audio alongside the video. You can hear everything — music, game sounds, video calls, notifications — just as if you were at your computer. Audio is synced with the video stream for a seamless experience.
Yes. Remio supports MFi controllers, Xbox controllers, PlayStation DualSense, and other Bluetooth gamepads. Connect your controller to your client device (iPhone, iPad, etc.) and Remio sends the input to the host — it works as if the controller is plugged directly into your computer.
Yes! Apple Pencil input is fully supported on iPad. Pressure sensitivity and tilt data are transmitted to the host computer, so you can use drawing apps, annotate documents, or navigate with precision. It's great for creative work like Photoshop, Illustrator, or Procreate workflows that run on your Mac.
Coming Soon

File transfer is on our roadmap and actively being developed. It will allow you to drag-and-drop files between your client device and host computer over the same encrypted P2P connection. In the meantime, you can use cloud storage (iCloud, Google Drive, etc.) to move files between devices.
Coming Soon

Multi-monitor support is coming to Remio Pro. You'll be able to switch between monitors or view them side-by-side. Currently, Remio streams your primary display. Follow our roadmap for updates on this feature.
Troubleshooting
Try these steps in order:

1. Make sure both the Host and Client are running and on the same network (for local connections).
2. Double-check your pairing code — it refreshes periodically.
3. Check that your firewall isn't blocking Remio. The Host needs to accept incoming connections.
4. On macOS, make sure you've granted the required permissions (Screen Recording, Accessibility) in System Settings.
5. Restart both the Host and Client apps.

Lag usually comes from network issues. Here's what to try:

1. Switch to a 5GHz WiFi network (not 2.4GHz) — this makes a huge difference.
2. Move closer to your WiFi router, or use Ethernet on the host computer.
3. Lower the resolution in Remio settings (1080p is less demanding than 4K).
4. Close bandwidth-heavy apps (downloads, video calls, streaming).
5. If you're on the internet (not local), try connecting during off-peak hours.

Remio's adaptive quality engine should handle most situations automatically, but these tips help in tough conditions.
If you're not hearing audio from the remote computer:

1. Make sure audio isn't muted on your client device (check the volume).
2. Check that audio output on the host computer is working (play something locally to test).
3. On macOS, Remio installs a virtual audio driver to capture system sound. Make sure it wasn't removed or disabled.
4. Restart the Remio Host app — this reinitializes the audio capture.

If the issue persists, check our docs or contact support.
Remio Host needs two macOS permissions to work:

Screen Recording — So Remio can capture your screen to stream it.
Accessibility — So Remio can send keyboard and mouse input from your remote device.

The app will prompt you to grant these when you first launch it. You can also manage them manually:
Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → find "Screen Recording" and "Accessibility" → toggle Remio Host on.

You may need to restart Remio Host after granting permissions.
