What is Remio
Remio is remote desktop software that lets you access and control your computer from another device over the internet. It uses peer-to-peer technology to stream your desktop with low latency and end-to-end encryption.
In simple terms: Remio connects your phone, tablet, or another computer to your main computer — so you can use it as if you were sitting in front of it, from anywhere in the world.
Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Remio, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use Remio — no hard feelings.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Remio. If you're using Remio on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you have the authority to bind that organization to these terms.
Your Devices, Your Control
Remio doesn't require an account. There's no sign-up, no email verification, no password to remember. You connect your devices using a pairing code — and that's it.
This means:
- You're responsible for who has physical access to your devices
- You're responsible for keeping your pairing codes private
- Anyone with access to your paired devices can initiate a remote session
Think of it like your house keys: Remio provides the lock, but you're in charge of who gets a copy of the key.
Acceptable Use
Remio is a tool. Like any tool, it can be used well or misused. Here's what we expect:
You may use Remio to:
- Access your own computers remotely
- Provide technical support to friends, family, or colleagues (with their permission)
- Work remotely, game, or manage servers
- Anything else that's legal and doesn't harm others
You may not use Remio to:
- Access someone else's computer without their explicit consent
- Distribute malware, viruses, or harmful software
- Engage in any illegal activity
- Attempt to circumvent Remio's security measures
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble Remio's software
- Use Remio in a way that could damage, overload, or impair our signaling servers
Unauthorized access is a crime. Using Remio to access someone else's computer without their consent may violate laws including the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (US), Computer Misuse Act (UK), and similar legislation worldwide.
Your Responsibilities
When you use Remio, you're responsible for:
- Your devices — Keeping your devices secure and up to date
- Your network — Ensuring your internet connection meets the requirements for a good experience
- Your content — Everything you do through a remote session is your responsibility, just as if you were physically at your computer
- Consent — If you're connecting to someone else's device, make sure you have their permission
- Compliance — Following all applicable laws in your jurisdiction
Intellectual Property
Remio and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Remio and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Remio for personal or business use in accordance with these terms.
You own everything on your computer. Remio doesn't claim any rights to your files, data, or content. We literally can't even see them — remember, everything is peer-to-peer.
Disclaimers
We're building Remio with care, but we want to be upfront about a few things:
"As Is" Software
Remio is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. This includes, but is not limited to, implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
No Guaranteed Uptime
While we strive to keep our signaling servers running 24/7, we can't guarantee 100% uptime. Our signaling servers are only needed for the initial connection — once you're connected, your session is peer-to-peer and independent of our infrastructure.
Beta Features
Some features may be marked as beta or experimental. These features are provided for testing and feedback purposes and may change, break, or be removed without notice.
Translation: We do our best to make Remio reliable and awesome, but software is complex. Things might break sometimes. We fix bugs as fast as we can.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Remio and its creators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenue, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from:
- Your use or inability to use Remio
- Any unauthorized access to or alteration of your data or transmissions
- Any interruption or cessation of the service
- Any bugs, viruses, or similar issues that may be transmitted through third parties
In no event shall our total liability exceed the amount you've paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim. If you've been using Remio for free, our maximum liability is $0 — which is fair, given you paid us $0.
Termination
You can stop using Remio at any time by simply deleting the app. No cancellation process, no retention tactics, no "are you sure?" emails. Just delete it.
We may terminate or suspend your access to Remio immediately, without prior notice, if we reasonably believe you've violated these terms — particularly the acceptable use section.
Since Remio doesn't require an account, "termination" in most cases simply means we may block specific device identifiers from connecting through our signaling servers.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "last updated" date at the top of this page.
For significant changes, we'll make reasonable efforts to notify you — such as a notice within the app. Continued use of Remio after changes means you accept the updated terms.
We won't make changes that fundamentally alter the deal without giving you a heads-up. That wouldn't be very nice of us.
Governing Law
These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of Remio will first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation. We'd rather talk it out than lawyer up.
